E-Record withdrawal from 1 July 2010

Thursday 11 February, 2010 The Tax Office has recently decided that e-Record will no longer be available from 1 July 2010. The decision to withdraw the product was due to a recently conducted review which found that e-Record was no longer compatible with current commercial record-keeping systems and would need to be redeveloped to keep up with technology and new business directions. E-Record is a free, electronic record keeping software product. It helps small businesses (including non-profit organisations) to keep good business records and meet their tax reporting obligations. The Tax Office recommends that the current users of e-Record have their alternative record keeping arrangements (such as certain commercially available software) in place by 30 June 2010.

A list of commercially available record-keeping software can be obtained at:http://softwaredevelopers.ato.gov.au The Tax Office also advises e-Record users to complete any outstanding record keeping entries for the year ending 30 June 2010 and prior years, and to consider printing any e-Record information that you want to retain, as there will be no support after 30 September 2010.
